Inspiration behind Spring Fox homeware collection

February 27, 2018

As regulars in both town & country, foxes are often part of our everyday lives, but still remain surrounded by intrigue. Often referred to as cunning and sly; intelligent and wily; cherished British wildlife icon and/or pest(!), we usually have a view on the humble fox! Perhaps this is one of the reasons they remain so popular in design and can almost always be seen somewhere on the high street in textiles, ceramics or art.

I love foxes so much that I named my business after them and wanted my first collection to feature them, creating a pattern that is versatile enough to take across a wide range of products in time.

I enjoy capturing the movement of animals, so after watching foxes leaping for food and play, this was all the inspiration I needed to create a new take on our foxy friend on a range of home ware for the spring. After combining foxes with leaves and acorns from one of our most loved British trees the pattern was complete. Hand drawing the elements of the design, they were then created into a pattern. Passionate about traditional printing methods, the pattern was screen printed onto the various items, some hand printed by me or, for more specialist work, by small UK companies.

I hope it captures well the joy of the animal and a shared love of nature.  The first items will be launched in March, with more to follow.
